Frequently Asked Questions
How do I schedule an appointment?
An appointment can be scheduled online from my website, sending an email, or by contacting me directly.
What can I expect from the initial appointment?
When you come for the initial appointment, you will be asked to complete the intake paperwork. You will be given opportunity to review the policies and discuss privacy practices. Afterwards, you and your therapist will
begin the session which ultimately serves as a means to gain insight about the current issues, begin building a therapeutic relationship, and identify what our goals in therapy will be.
How do I know if counseling is for me?
Most people begin looking for counseling once they feel unable to make progress in their lives and situations alone. However, attending counseling can be extremely intimidating for some, especially in the beginning. If you feel overwhelmed by your situation or circumstances, or if you need to talk to someone that is not directly related to your situation, counseling can help you find a way to overcome and deal with life challenges without feeling scared, alone, afraid or lost. Counseling is a journey towards healing and finding true happiness despite your circumstance.
What payment/methods do you accept?
I am currently accepting Private Pay, Medicaid, and Private Insurances (Blue Cross Blue Shied, United Healthcare, Aetna, Healthy Blue, Carolina Complete Health, UHC Community plan, AmeriHealth Caritas, Wellcare, NC Healthchoice, and Cigna).
Also I accept all major credit cards and cash payments.
How long will I need therapy?
The length of time in counseling depends on your needs. On average, indivuals meet with a theorist 8-10 times to achieve treatment goals. Some people come for one session only, others participate in therapy for an extended amount of time. However, it truly depends on your need and when you feel you are ready to stop attending therapy. There are some limits based on your insurance provider that can also influence the amount of time/sessions allowed for counseling.
How long will my therapy session last?
Typically each therapy session lasts 55 minutes. But this also depends on the issues or challenges we are working on and the ability to tolerate the length of time in each session.
What are the cost/fees for counseling?
The cost depends on whether you are looking for individual, family, or couples counseling. It also depends on if you are eligible for a sliding scale fee or have insurance. Feel free to contact me to determine the cost of your counseling session.
How do I know we are a good fit for counseling?
It is very important to feel comfortable with your therapist and to get an idea if they are someone you can be open and honest with. Contact me for a FREE phone consultation to see if you would like to work with me.
