Hello and Welcome!

We all come from different walks of life and experiences. Regardless of our background, status, or differences I believe everyone should have the opportunity to express themselves in a comfortable and safe setting. Everyone deserves a chance to be heard and to receive help achieving their goals or simply to overcome challenging situations. This is the true meaning and purpose for creating and establishing Open Gate Counseling Services.

In building a therapeutic relationship, one of the biggest challenges can be finding someone that you feel both confident and comfortable with, to share your innermost thoughts and feelings. Likewise, I want you to know a little bit about me so you can make an informed decision about who you choose to be your therapist. Here are just a few things about me:

I am married to My Best Friend and we are blessed with two beautiful daughters, two dogs, and one cat. We relocated from Wilmington NC to Ocean Isle Beach where we enjoy spending time with family and friends, going to the beach, and playing outdoors as much as possible.

I am originally from Pembroke, NC where I graduated from UNCP with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology. Later on, I obtained my Masters Degree in Professional Counseling at Liberty University.

I truly feel passionate about providing therapy to those in need. I honestly can say one of my favorite things of all is being alongside of person who is beginning to recognizing their own worth and seeing their achievements in therapy. I feel honored to be a part of their journey and watch as they begin making changes towards a better tomorrow.

Individual therapy can be what you want it to be. You are able to customize your own treatment to address your own personal needs and goals despite your age, situation, or circumstances. You work one on one with your Therapist to gain insight on what matters most to you.

Marriage can be tough! Most marriages start out being easy and full of love and life being exactly what you imagined. However over time, you may grow apart, feel unappreciated or feel overwhelmed by everyday busy schedules. Couples/Marriage counseling can help you "fight fair" and gain insight on how your relationship became so different and disconnected. Lets work through those relationship issues together to find the love you once had.

Family therapy is an intense therapeutic treatment that includes various daily members. There is a reason you are "family" which means there is love amongst you. The goal is to not always agree with everything but to find common ground and be able to deal with everyday life stressors together, as a family. Many families come to seek help with divorce, step parents, step children, and how to unite as a family when things get tough. Children also benefit from family therapy to better understand the reasons behind their parents choices. Likewise, parents/guardians can also learn ways to communicate their love and support for a struggling child in a non-judgmental and unbiased family session.
